Mitch: I'll have the girl here in a few days. Keep him alive. Where is Natalie?

Todd: How am I supposed to know that?

Mitch: Find out if you want to see your wife again.

Cristian: There's Manning's car. Step on it.

Starr: Did you find mom yet?

Todd: Working on it.

Mitch: Todd's time is almost up.

Blair: Ok. What's that?

Mitch: Beautiful, isn't it? Hmm. Such texture.

Blair: Please tell me that you are going to wear that because, see, I think that that would make perfect sense.

Mitch: Hmm. Well, you know, the body is a costume for the soul.

Blair: You're so profound.

Mitch: It's Showtime.

[Music plays]

Radio announcer: Another valentine's day over. Just as well. You see, it's a mask, an easy way to say "I love you." It's harder all the other days. Your finals are ripping you apart and your job's got you ready to scream. Those are the days where loving someone really counts.

[Car accelerates]

Todd: Hey, hey! No, no --

Natalie: Get your hands off of me! Why are you doing this?

Todd: Take it easy. Just take it easy.

Natalie: You drugged me!

Todd: Ow! Cut it out! You make me stop this car, I'll drug you again.

Natalie: Where's Cristian?

Todd: He's not here.

Natalie: What did you do to him?

Todd: Calm down. Just calm down, will you? For Pete's sake!

Natalie: Oh, my god.

[Car screeches]

Man: What's he doing up there? He's all over the road.

Cristian: Natalie probably just woke up.

Man: What?

Cristian: I told you, he drugged her, too. And knowing her, she's probably trying to get away now.

Man: Well, she'd better stop if she doesn't want to wind up dead.

Cristian: That's what she's afraid of.

Man: What?

Cristian: Come on, Natalie, hang on. I'm coming.

Man: Hey -- how dangerous is this guy?

Cristian: You don't want to know.

Man: I mean, does -- does he have a gun?

Cristian: I don't know, but it doesn't matter.

Man: Does he have a record?

Cristian: Well, he killed one guy that I know of. And he was sent to jail for rape or god knows what else. Kidnapping didn't seem to faze him.

Man: Yeah, you're right. I don't want to know. Listen, there's a phone back at the gas station back up the road about 10 miles.

Cristian: No, no, just follow them, ok?

Man: Yeah, but look around us, man. We're out in the middle of nowhere. Where the hell are they going?

Cristian: Wherever it is, I'm going to be there.

Nurse: Sir?

Nurse: Sir?

[Man breathes deeply]

Man: Did I make it through the night?

Nurse: Mm-hmm.

Man: Is it soon? Today?

Nurse: I think so.

Man: It has to be today.

Blair: Todd is on his way. He's coming for me.

Mitch: Well, would it be a show without him?

Blair: Show? What do you mean, "show"? You keep saying "show." That's when he brings Natalie to you and I go home. That's what you said.

Mitch: Hmm, I did say that, didn't I?

Blair: You think you're going to pull a fast one on Todd? Listen, Mitch, he will tear you to pieces. He will stop you cold.

Mitch: Well, pity the man who tries to stop the will of god.

Blair: Oh, god! You want to bring god into this? Well, if you want to bring god into this, then you better start praying right now because when Todd gets here, you're not going to get a chance.

[Organ music plays] (Female announcer) folks here appreciate things

Jessica: Are you sure you're ok?

Starr: I said I'm fine. What time is it?

Jessica: Oh, it's really early. Starr, it looked like you were having a nightmare.

Starr: So?

Jessica: So, sometimes when I have nightmares, I like to talk about them.

Starr: What do you say?

Jessica: Not much. Just what it was about and that kind of stuff.

Starr: But it isn't real.

Jessica: I know, but that doesn't mean it wasn't scary, right? Do you want to tell me about your dream?

Starr: I can't.

Jessica: Why not?

Starr: Nothing! I just don't want to talk about it.

Jessica: Well, do you want me to tell you about my dream?

Starr: If you want.

Jessica: I was at this party, and I was all dressed up like a princess.

Starr: Princesses are dumb. All they do is sit around and wait for a prince.

Jessica: Yeah, I guess you're right.

Starr: So, did you have a prince in your dream?

Jessica: No.

Starr: Did you dance at all?

Jessica: No, not really.

Starr: I thought you said you were at a party.

Jessica: It wasn't a good party. Some bad stuff happened.

Starr: What kind of bad stuff?

Jessica: Well, it doesn't matter, right? It was only a dream. Just like you said, dreams can't hurt you.

Starr: Yeah, maybe you're right. Maybe it was just a dream and it can't hurt me.

Jessica: So maybe you want to tell me what happened in your dream.

Starr: Well, ok. There was this guy, and he kidnapped my mom. And then my dad went to go find her.

Jessica: What guy?

Starr: This guy that my dad hates -- I mean really hates. He even wrote a story about him in the newspaper.

Jessica: Was it this guy?

Starr: Yeah, him. And, you see, he wanted to take me, but my mom told him to take her instead.

Jessica: What?

Starr: He said she was like a chip or something.

Jessica: A chip?

Starr: No, it wasn't really like a potato chip. It was like a -- a --

Jessica: A bargaining chip?

Starr: Yeah, that's it, a bargaining chip. And then that's when my dad went out to go find her.

Bo: Vega -- Antonio --

Antonio: Commissioner, what's up?

Bo: I want you to go up to the lodge, check on Cristian and Natalie.

Antonio: Why? What's going on?

Bo: Well, Cristian called a while ago, but we had a bad connection.

Antonio: Was he upset? Something wrong?

Bo: I don't know. I could barely even hear him. So I sent a uniform up there to check.

Antonio: And what did he say?

Bo: That's the problem. He hasn't called back in.

Antonio: All right, I'm on my way.

Bo: Hey, Naylor?

Antonio: Is this the officer you sent to check on my brother?

Bo: Yeah, yeah. What happened?

Antonio: Have you seen my brother?

Ofc. Naylor: Someone clocked me as soon as I got there.

Bo: Who?

Ofc. Naylor: I don't know. They hit me from behind, disabled my radio --

Antonio: Have you seen Natalie and my brother?

Ofc. Naylor: It looked like they cleared out before I got there.

Antonio: Oh, great. Laurence got to them.

Bo: What time were you up there?

Ofc. Naylor: Around noon, 12:30.

Bo: Laurence was here. I was questioning him. Brennan I want you to get Naylor over to the E.R., Ok? Get him checked out. You take care of yourself, Bob.

Antonio: Well, if it -- if it wasn't Laurence, then who took off with Cristian and Natalie?

Bo: Manning.

Antonio: What? Why?

Bo: Manning was here earlier. He was asking about Natalie, said Viki wanted him to check on Natalie.

Antonio: But why -- why clock Naylor?

Bo: Why does manning do half the things that he does? The thing is, it didn't sit right with me because he was just too desperate to find Natalie.

[Phone rings]

Bo: Buchanan.

Jessica: Uncle Bo, it it's -- it's Jessica.

Bo: Why are you whispering?

Jessica: I'm with Starr. I don't want to scare her.

Bo: What's going on?

Jessica: Starr told me something that you should know -- something about Mitch Laurence.

Cristian: Can't this thing go any faster?

[Music plays]

Man: You want to stay on the road, don't you?

Cristian: I can't see what's going on up there, man.

Man: Ok, ok. Easy. She must mean a lot to you.

[Car accelerates]

Cristian: Yes. Yes, she does.

Man: Guess so. Mighty special.

Cristian:: How can you say you're not beautiful?

Natalie: Cristian. That feels so good.

Cristian: You know, I could see how life has been tough on you.

Natalie: That's attractive.

Cristian: It's amazing. No, really, because I've had bad things happened to me, too. I've lost things. I've wanted plenty that I couldn't have. But being with you is like -- it's like I'm lucky because you want me.

Natalie: I do.

Todd: Are you happy now?

Cristian: What'd you do to her?

Todd: You're paranoid.

Cristian: She was fine before you got here.

Todd: No, she wasn't. It's that cut on her leg. It's probably infected.

Cristian: She was getting better! Wait a minute. It was the tea, wasn't it?

Todd: Why would I do that?

Cristian: Natalie, come on. Natalie, wake up.

Todd: You know what? Let's argue some more, prince charming.

Cristian: Come on, let's get her to the hospital. What -- ah!

[Cristian groans]

Cristian: He's going to hurt her. I know it. I got to get to her.

Man: You know, what you told me about him -- you know, prison and murder and all -- I don't know, man. We're out here nowhere, and there's no cops.

Cristian: Look, it'll be fine. Just don't worry about it, ok? Why don't we run him off the road? I can grab natal..

man: Oh, no.

Cristian: Why not?

Man: You think I'm going to smash my truck up, fella, you think again. I don't know what got you into this mess, but you're not going to drag me in with you.

Cristian: Ok. Ok, fine. Then let me do it.

Man: What?

Cristian: Just pull over and I'll let you out.

Man: Are you listening to me? This is my truck. No way.

Natalie: Please take me back.

Todd: I can't do that.

Natalie: Ok, look, look -- I will do whatever it is you want, ok? I promise. But I need to make sure that Cristian's ok.

Todd: Cristian's fine.

Natalie: He is bleeding to death!

Todd: No, he's not. What, you think I shot him?

Natalie: Didn't you?

Todd: Not with a gun.

Natalie: What did you do to him?

Todd: Nothing. Maybe I gave him a little something so he could sleep for a while, that's all.

Natalie: You drugged him, too?

Todd: Yeah. What's the big deal, huh? Jeez, people take drugs all the time to get themselves to get to sleep. He'll wake up from it just the way you did.

Natalie: Why are you doing this?

Todd: I don't have a choice.

Natalie: Why?

Todd: Look, it's for his own good, you know.

Natalie: What are you talking about?

Todd: The guy can play some kind of a hero role -- you know, tries to get you, tries to rescue you. Could wind up getting killed.

Natalie: Ok, wait a minute. What do you mean? What's going on here? Where are we going?

Todd: I am taking you to see Mitch Laurence.

Natalie: What?

Todd: He's got Blair, and he won't -- he won't let her go unless I bring you.

Natalie: You can't do this.

Todd: Yes, I can. Give me that. Give me my phone. You don't have a choice!

Natalie: So that's it? What, you're going to -- you're going to just trade me for Blair?

Todd: Yeah, well, I have to.

Natalie: Do you have any idea what he'll do? Don't you even care what happens to me?

Todd: Yes, I care! Of course I care! You're my sister's kid.

Natalie: So, why -- why do you have that gun?

Todd: Look, you just do what I tell you to do and you'll be fine. Everything will be fine.

Natalie: What are you going to do with it?

Todd: Well, what do you think? Look, are you with me or not?

Natalie: Just tell me what you want me to do.

Jessica: You know, when I was little, my mom used to wrap me up in blankets like this.

Starr: Were you playing "mummy"?

Jessica: No. When the furnace would come on, it would sound like a lion roaring.

Starr: That'd be cool.

Jessica: Yeah, well, it woke me up, and I was scared. So mom would wrap me up in a blanket, and she would give me some hot chocolate.

Starr: I like hot chocolate.

Jessica: I thought that you might.

Starr: No marshmallows?

Jessica: And then my mom let me watch all my favorite cartoons.

Starr: Cartoons are lame.

Jessica: Well, then you can watch whatever you want.

[Music plays]

Jessica: What's this?

Starr: "Lizzie McGuire." So you promise that you won't tell my dad that I told you about my dream?

Jessica: I promise.

Starr: Cross your heart and hope to die?

Jessica: I promise. And I promise I'll do what I can to get them back home safely.

Starr: Me and my mom always watch "Lizzie McGuire" together.

Jessica: What about your dad?

Starr: Are you kidding me?

Jessica: I'm really glad that you told me about your dream.

Starr: How come you had a picture of that bad guy?

Jessica: Because I guess I'm scared of him, too.

Starr: Why, did he do something bad to your mom, too?

Jessica: Yeah, he did.

[Doorbell rings]

Jessica: Listen, I -- I invited some people over that might help us find your mom and dad. And they might want to come and ask you a few questions, ok?

Starr: Why?

Jessica they just want to know about your dream.

Starr: But they know that it was fake, right? They know that it was just a dream?

Jessica: Yes, they do. I'm going to make sure of it.

Jessica: That was fast.

Bo: Hi, jess. Thanks for calling. We need anything on Laurence that we can get.

Jessica: And now Todd's in the middle of this.

Bo: Yeah, it doesn't surprise me. I knew the guy was up to something. He was all antsy to find Natalie. Just couldn't figure out what it was.

Jessica: Natalie's ok, right?

Bo: Jess, we're not really sure.

[Jessica sighs]

Antonio: You ok?

Jessica: Yeah, I just get this -- kind of this weird feeling about Natalie. I call it this twin thing.

Bo: You've had that before.

Jessica: It's almost like I know when Natalie's in trouble.

Natalie: Everything looks so peaceful covered in the snow.

Todd: Yeah.

Natalie: When we were up at the lodge, Cristian and I -- everything was going to be ok. We made snow angels. I haven't made snow angels since I was 8. You probably think that's pretty stupid.

Todd: Starr makes snow angels all the time.

Natalie: She's allowed?

Todd: Mm-hmm. I don't think you're stupid.

Natalie: Yeah, I am. I thought everything was going to be ok, that Cristian and I --

Todd: Everything is going to be ok. You just got to stick to the plan.

Natalie: I know. I just -- I'm afraid I'm going to mess everything up.

Todd: You're not going to mess everything up.

Natalie: That's what I do. I married Mitch.

Todd: Yeah, well, so, that's one mistake.

Natalie: Yeah, but then he got Cristian thrown in jail.

Todd: Ok, two.

Natalie: And -- and Mrs. Vega -- he poisoned her.

Todd: Yeah, but she got over that.

Natalie: Now he's got Blair.

Todd: It's not your fault.

Natalie: Oh, well, ok. Well, then, why don't you tell me whose fault it is? Because if it weren't for me, then this never would have happened.

Todd: I don't know. But come on. What, you think that because you screwed up in the past, that means you're going to screw everything up now?

Natalie: Yeah.

Todd: Doesn't work like that.

Natalie: Ok. Then why don't you tell me how it works.

Todd: I don't know, but -- well, the -- I can't -- you know what? You're -- you're Viki's daughter. She doesn't talk to you about stuff like that? I mean, she's got tons of advice.

Natalie: She told me I was her gift.

Todd: There you go. See? Now, if Viki's on your side, then you can't be all bad.

Natalie: Yeah. Yeah, I guess.

Todd: Everything is going to be fine.

Natalie: Yeah, fine.

Man: Has Mitch called? What's happening?

Nurse: No. He said he'd call and let us know.

Man: He'd better call soon. I don't know how much time I have left.

Nurse: Calm down. Don't get upset. He'll be here soon. Have patience.

Man: Damn it, I don't have any patience left.

Second man: At least he's not going all over the road.

Cristian: Yeah, for now.

Man: Nice and peaceful.

Cristian: If he's hurt her --

man: Maybe they're just talking. Relax.

Cristian: I told you, man, whatever it is this guy's doing, it means Natalie's going to get hurt. I know it. So, look, why don't you just follow them? Just get alongside.

Man: I -- and I told you, that's not going to happen.

Cristian: Listen -- look, you saved my life and I really appreciate it, but now I'm just trying to save Natalie's life.

Man: Look, no offense, but you were all drugged up when I found you. And now I'm supposed to ram my car upside someone else on your say-so?

Cristian: I told you, this --

man: How do I know your girlfriend's not running off with this guy?

Cristian: He kidnapped her!

Man: Ok. Ok. We're going to follow them, and that's all. For now.

Cristian: What do you mean, for now?

Man: If he doesn't get to where he's going soon, we're going to lose him. We're almost out of gas.

[Clock ticks]

Blair: Nervous?

Mitch: Your husband should've been here by now.

Blair: Oh, he's coming. What's the matter, Mitch? Does your plan involve catching Todd at just the right time?

Mitch: Excuse me?

Blair: If you're planning on double-crossing Todd, it's got to be a surprise and it's got to be quick.

Mitch: You wouldn't be pumping me for information, would you?

Blair: No. Just trying to make idle conversation just to pass the time. Because we both know how important time is to you.

Mitch: He better not have been lying.

Blair: I promise you, he's not.

Mitch: Well, he's lied to you in the past, hasn't he?

Blair: Well, he won't lie about this.

Mitch: Oh, forgive me if I'm not so trustful of his love for you.

Blair: You're afraid that he isn't going to show up, aren't you?

Mitch: Hey --

you're the one who

should be afraid, sweetheart!

Blair: Well, I'm not.

Mitch: Ah.

Blair: Because he's coming, and you're the one that's going to be sorry!

Mitch: Yes, you have said that before.

Blair: He hates you, Mitch. And what he did to you before is going to be nothing. Because you have no idea what Todd is capable of.

Mitch: He's only a man.

Blair: Yeah, he's a man. But if you hurt him, you threaten him, or he feels the least bit threatened, trapped, he's like a wild animal and he attacks.

Mitch: Man has no power over god.

Blair: And it'll happen so fast, it'll be over before you know it.

Mitch: God made everything -- the heaven and the earth --

Blair: Oh, wait. Stop. Wait a minute! You think god is going to help you, Mitch Laurence?

You? You kidnapped me! You -- you threatened to torture my children!

Mitch: A sacrifice must be made to show faith.

Blair: And you know what? Todd knows it. Todd knows exactly what you did. And that is all that he is thinking about right now, and he is waiting. He is praying for this moment. He's going to find you. And god knows he will. He is going to

rip your throat out!

[Phone rings]

Todd: What?

Mitch: Where are you?

Todd: I don't know. I have no idea. We were -- there's -- looks like there's some kind of abandoned theater up ahead.

Mitch: Yeah, pull in there.

Todd: Then what?

Mitch: Wait for my instructions.

Todd: Ok, you don't get to tell me what to do.

Mitch: Patience, to.. it's a virtue. You wouldn't want Blair to have to pay for you sin.

Natalie: So, it's time?

Todd: You ready?

Jessica: So now it all makes sense. That's why Todd was calling me, asking about my mother.

Bo: She knows where Natalie is.

Jessica: And then when he found out that she was out of town, he freaked. And that's why he was asking about Natalie.

Antonio: Which is why Mitch wants Blair -- so that Todd would bring him Natalie.

Jessica: Starr said something about him calling Blair his bargaining chip.

Bo: No wonder Todd's hell-bent on finding Natalie.

Jessica: But he doesn't know where they are, right? He can't get to Natalie and Cristian?

Bo: He must've followed the cop that I sent up there to check on them.

Antonio: Yeah, hit him over the head and knocked him out.

Bo: Yeah, but then where did he take her, you know? It wasn't Laurence's house because I've got that place staked out.

Antonio: I just hope they're all right.

Bo: I'm going to call the station, see if they got any more leads.

Jessica: So, how's your baby? She's doing ok, right?

Antonio: Uh -- yeah. Yeah, yeah. She's -- yeah, everything seemed fine.

Jessica: I know how hard it must be for you to be away from her.

Antonio: I -- I had to get out of there. I was upsetting Keri too much.

Jessica: You're a good man, Antonio.

Antonio: I -- I wish that were true, but --

Jessica: You are.

Antonio: Thank you for what you said yesterday.

Jessica: Well, I meant it. I know how much you love that baby and Keri.

Antonio: What about you? How are you dealing with this whole Mitch Laurence thing?

Jessica: I hate what he did to my mother. I hate what he did to Natalie.

Antonio: And you?

Jessica: Oh, now Blair and Todd -- I dragged them into this mess, too.

Antonio: Look, you didn't do anything.

Jessica: He's my father. You know, if he cared about me at all, if he cared about having a daughter at all, he wouldn't do this to Starr. He wouldn't hurt her parents.

Antonio: But he doesn't care.

Jessica: That's what makes him so scary.

Mitch: I see you've arrived.

Todd: What else do you see?

Mitch: You have Natalie.

Todd: Where's Blair?

Mitch: Come inside.

Todd: I want to talk to Blair first.

Mitch: Patience, Todd. Remember? Come inside, and then we can exchange wives.

Todd: Anything happens to Blair, I'm going to kill Natalie.

Cristian: Hurry, hurry, hurry. He pulled in there by that building.

Man: Saw him. Keep your shirt on.

Cristian: Just pull over so I can get off so they don't see us. Oh, great.

Man: Anything else?

Cristian: Yeah, actually, I need you to call my brother. He's a cop.

Man: Really?

Cristian: Yeah. Tell him where I am and tell him to hurry.

Man: I don't see any pay phones.

Cristian: There's got to be a pay phone around here somewhere. Find one and tell him to hurry. Oh -- and thanks.

Man: Good luck.

Todd: Laurence! What the hell is this place? Where's Blair?

Mitch: Come in.

Now, manning, if you want to see your wife.

Todd: Come on.

Todd: Blair! Where are you? Blair!

Mitch: Take Natalie to the stage.

Todd: Where's Blair?

Mitch: Leave Natalie there.

Todd: Where's Blair?

Mitch: Patience.

Todd: No! Shut up already about your patience!

Natalie: Todd --

Mitch: I'll bring you Blair. I know you must miss her -- her gentle touch, her sweet kisses. How could you live without them? How could any man?

[Music plays]

Jessica: Hey. Still watching "Lizzie McGuire"?

Starr: No. Now it's "even Stevens."

Jessica: Hmm.

Antonio: You like that show, huh?

Starr: Not really.

Jessica: Then why are you watching it?

Starr: Because my mom watches it.

Jessica: Well, can we watch with you?

Starr: Sure.

[Phone rings]

Antonio: Vega. Yeah. Yeah? My brother? Ok, you tell him I'm on my way. Commissioner, I found them. Let's go.

Man: What are we supposed to do with her?

Second man: You heard him. We're supposed to kill her.

Natalie: Don't let him get to you.

Mitch: I can see why you love Blair so much. Frankly, I'm surprised you ever let her get away.

Natalie: Ok, ok -- it's ok. Remember, you said everything would be fine?

Todd: Just tell me where Blair is.

Mitch: You'd already know if it weren't for your niece, if she had simply stayed by Ms side as a devoted wife should. But, then, you know all about straying wives, don't you, Todd?

Todd: Where's Blair?

Mitch: She's right there. Your wife is right beside you, as she should be.

Todd: Where's Blair?

Natalie: Todd, it's ok! Everything's ok! It's ok.

[Mitch laughs]

Blair: [Muffled] Just let me go!

Man: Where should we do her?

Second man: Back there in the woods where no one will find the body.

Blair: Just let me go, please! Please! Let me go! Please!

Man: Hold it.

Cristian: You ok?

Blair: What are you doing here, Cristian?

Cristian: I followed Todd and Natalie. Where are they?

Blair: They just went in the theater.

Cristian: Did he hurt her?

Blair: Mitch?

Cristian: No, Todd.

Blair: No. Why would he hurt her? That's his niece.

Cristian: Well, he brought her to Laurence, didn't he?

Blair: All I know is that Todd thinks that he's exchanging me for Natalie. That's all I know.

Cristian: Ok. All right, all right. Do you know if there's any more of these guys around here?

Blair: No, no.

Cristian: Here -- well, hold this. Stay here. Be right back.

Blair: No, you can't go in there, Cristian. No, no, Cristian --

Cristian: Stay here.

Blair: No, stay --

Cristian: Listen, listen, why don't you see if they have a cell phone --

Blair: Please --

Cristian: And call for help.

Blair: No, let me help you.

Cristian: Blair --

Blair: No.

Cristian: By staying here, you'd be helping.

Blair: No, please --

Cristian: Stay.

Blair: Don't go in there, Cristian! Don't go! Oh.

Todd: Where's Blair?

Mitch: You haven't followed all my instructions.

Todd: I brought you Natalie!

Mitch: And now you'll leave her with me.

Todd: I want to see Blair right now!

Natalie: Todd, why don't you just do what he says? Listen to him.

Mitch: Leave Natalie on the stage, throw your gun into the audience, and go.

Todd: Not until I see Blair!

Mitch: I'll lead you to her. You'll have your wife when I have mine. Now, leave Natalie.

Todd: Where are you, Laurence?

Mitch: Leave Natalie there.

Todd: Not until I see Blair.

Mitch: You'll see her. Don't you want to see where I am? I'm right in front of you, right here in the audience. Over here, Todd!

Todd: I can't see you and I can't see Blair, so from now on I'm not doing anything you say!

Natalie: Todd, what's going on? Todd?

Mitch: I'm right here. I'm right in front of you.

Cristian: Wait, it's me --

Mitch: Right here.

[Gunshot]

Blair: Todd.

[Mitch laughs]

Todd: Where are you? Where are you?

[Mitch laughs]

nurse: Swallow. This medicine helps keep your heart going. It keeps you alive.
