Eric Winters joined the cast of Days of Our Lives as Rex DiMera on July 3,
2002.
On July 3, 2002, a massive meteor shower rocked Salem to its core. With
it came Rex and Cassie in a "space ship." Belle and Shawn were the first to
meet these "aliens." By the time Belle and Shawn got to the scene, Cassie
and Rex were unconscious. Belle gave CPR to Rex, and Shawn gave CPR to
Cassie. When they woke up, they were so frightened by Shawn and Belle that
they ran off into the bushes.
Rex and Cassie arrived at the Wesley's to get clothes and food. When
Nancy Wesley saw them she screamed. Craig looked for them, but by the time
he got down stairs, the twins were gone.
The next people to have a close encounter with the "aliens" were Julie
Williams and Maggie Horton. They saw the twins, half naked, in Salem Place.
When they told Belle and Shawn about it, they thought Julie and Maggie were
crazy. John had not trusted the twins since setting eyes on them. He even
called the government Agent Spector to capture the "aliens" and do tests on
them. While testing them, John and Spector found a phoenix tattoo on each
twin’s arm. John denied being connected to the twins because he has the same
tattoo.
Marlena has felt connected to the twins ever since she laid eyes on them.
When Tony DiMera got wind of the "aliens" in Salem, he decided to gain full
custody of Cassie and Rex. Tony got custody of them and has also felt
connected to them.
In January 2003, Tony was in a hit and run car accident and had to have
surgery. It just so happened that Cassie has the same rare blood type as
Tony, and so he believes he is the twins' father. John and Marlena went to
the DiMera Island to search for answers about the twins. Tony arrived on the
island and helped them search.
In February 2003, Tony and Marlena discovered that they were Rex and
Cassie's parents. Later, we found out that it's really Roman and Kate who
are their parents.
Rex's girlfriend is Mimi Lockhart. They have a tumultuous relationship.
Rex is a genius who has invented many things. He also has a mean temper. His
sister, Cassie, was murdered by the Salem Stalker.
